The Canticle

Some people believe that our universe began with a bang

An infinitely small singularity

Became an ever-expanding collection of constellations

And planets like ours,

where eons have transformed deep-sea microbes

into beings capable of astronomy, music, warfare, and love

So do I believe that I am a universe

For two decades, quiet and condensed

Waiting for the moment that I explode

into a constellation of poetry, beauty, art, and love

I am a cosmic mystery,

so limitless and infinite I fear I will never know myself

But the stars know me,

they tell me I am destined to sit among them

and pour my heart unto the world

Uranus calls me his child,

and tells me to wait for my awakening

So I wait for my freedom

For my clarity

For my ambition

I wait for the bang
