The readings for our Sunday Mass this week centered in on forgiveness. Forgiveness is not so simple for most of us to offer because it means putting others in front of ourselves even when they did something to hurt us. It is easy to hear and preach about forgiveness but living a life of mercy is different. It takes practice and most definitely the humility to ask God for help in forgiving. In our prayers we can ask God to help us to forgive. As written in the Psalm, “Our Lord is kind and merciful.” Nothing makes our Lord happier than helping us to forgive. God wants us to become more like Him and He is all forgiving.
Without forgiveness we cannot live freely and completely love others. In addition to not being able fully love, being non-forgiving results in various types of sufferings.

Let us ask Our Lord for the grace to forgive and to accept forgiveness. As written in the Psalm for this Sunday, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He put our transgressions from us.” God forgives all of our sins and looks for the good in us, let us pray that we can do the same.
