If you don’t know who Elena Delle Donne is, allow me to tell you a bit of her story. Delle Donne is the first rookie to lead the WNBA All-Star voting, and was selected to start but suffered a concussion prior to the All-Star match. As a rookie, even with her injury time, she currently is the fourth season-leading scorer in the league, fourth season-leading shot blocker, and her journey to this point is both refreshing and perspective-probing.
If you don’t know who her inspiration is, then please do yourself another favor and watch this clip:
The impact of Elena’s story reaches beyond 94 ft. court and above and the 10 ft. rim. It inspires us to nurture our God given gifts to share those gifts with others. It inspires us to remember what is truly important in the pursuit of the greatness – not only is family fundamental, but it is so because of the lived love of the awe inspiring gift of life and core dignity found within all.
Elena’s story has set a new bar with her impact on the college game, and thus far in the professional game – the sky (no pun intended) is certainly the limit as we watch it continue to unfold. Thank you, Elena Delle Donne, for this example in pursuit of your potential and nurturing love of your family.
