Venerable Pierre Toussaint raised funds for the building of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, even though, as a black man he was not permitted to enter the building. Venerable Henriette Diaz Delille is the first United States native born African American whose cause for canonization has been officially opened by the Catholic Church.

Henriette Delille and Pierre Toussaint each dedicated their lives in service to those in need. Check out all of the service opportunities that are available, virtually, through Service Learning and Community Engagement.

In case you missed it, a few weeks ago, we highlighted six Black holy men and women who are on the path to sainthood. Venerable Pierre Toussaint and Venerable Henriette Diaz Delille are among these men and women.
