MLK Day at Neumann

Neumann will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by honoring the legacy of the civil rights leader throughout the week of January 18 with activities that focus on community service and the importance of social justice and equal rights.

January 18
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Mirenda Center
Hoops from the Heart: A basketball clinic open to youngsters in grades 1-8 ($30 per person), supervised by members of the Knights basketball teams and their coaches. Proceeds benefit the Community Action Agency of Delaware County.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bachmann Lobby
Streaming Dr. King’s I Have a Dream speech on the half hour

Volunteer fair: A display and student-staffed table about the opportunities to sign up for community service throughout the year

Operation Hunger: Making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Catholic Charities
of Chester

8 p.m. in Schmidt Multipurpose Room
Screening and discussion of the film Selma

January 19
12:30 p.m. in Campus Ministry
Screening of Dead Man Walking

January 20
7 p.m. in the Devine Hospitality Suite
Screening and discussion of Hotel Rwanda

January 22
8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with the intention of the dignity of all human life.
