Four Neumann students traveled to Harrisburg on April 21 to ask Pennsylvania legislators to increase support for higher education. Bryn Borowik, Stephanie DiCicco, Richard Tutak, and Kellie Waters participated in Student Lobby Day, organized by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania.

They were among hundreds of students and administrators from more than 30 independent colleges who gathered at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building to ask lawmakers to provide additional funding for PHEAA grants and the Ready to Succeed Scholarship program, and to vote no on the governor’s proposed plan to expand sales tax to textbooks, meal plans, and activity or other fees.

Dr. Rosalie Mirenda, president of Neumann University, said, “I am pleased that our students made their voices heard in Harrisburg about the financial issues that affect them and thousands of other students in Pennsylvania.”
