Peri Appointed to State Charter School Appeal Board by Governor Corbett

Neumann University's Vice President and General Counsel Jonathan Peri, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania State Charter School Appeal Board by Governor Tom Corbett. Peri will bring a thoughtful voice to the decision-making process for charter school appeals with the State Department of Education. The appointment by Governor Corbett is effective as of
June 4.

"It is humbling to be selected as a member of this board," said Peri."The State Charter School Appeal Board serves as an instrumental arbiter in our state educational system.I look forward to working with the Secretary of Education and board members for excellence in education in our commonwealth."

This is Peri's third state-level appointment in education, evidencing his exceptional competence, diligence, and diplomacy. In every appointment Peri had the full bi-partisan unanimous confirmation of the Pennsylvania Senate, and the appointments themselves have come from both political parties.He has maintained this level of support because of the merits of his character, and his unifying perspective that stakeholders need to operate collaboratively if positive outcomes are truly desired.Peri's first appointment was in March of 2009 by the President Pro Tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate to the Tuition Account Program Advisory Board which provides advice relative to $3.1 Billion worth of investments in Pennsylvania's 529 College Savings Programs.In October 2010, Peri was appointed to serve a six-year term with the Pennsylvania State Board of Education by Governor Edward G. Rendell.

Jonathan Peri currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel of Neumann University where he is the institution's Chief Legal Officer and Program Director of the Neumann University Center for Community Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship.As Program Director of the Center, Peri has overseen curriculum development and organized high-profile speakers for the regional community leadership program located at Neumann University.Peri, a resident of Thornbury Township, is also currently the President of the Delaware County Bar Association's Board of Directors, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Walden School in Media, and past Chairman of the Upper Darby Community Outreach Corporation.

Peri has an impressive educational history including an undergraduate degree from Villanova University, a law degree from Widener University, and he is currently earning a Ph.D. in organizational leadership - education concentration, from Eastern University.
