In July 2021, Pope Francis invited the entire church to participate in a process entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.” This synod is a global effort, and the Pope has specifically recognized the role of colleges and universities in this two-year process. It encourages Catholics to encounter and listen to one another.

In the spring of 2022, along with other colleges in the area, Neumann held “listening meetings” to help include college students in the synodal process. The goal of these sessions was to gather student input, which will be incorporated into reports that will be presented to the synod in the fall of 2023.
