The construction of a student center is an essential element of the university’s Master Plan, which projects the center to be the main focal point on campus for student social life.
The center will provide open spaces, tables, chairs, and lounges where students can relax or do their homework. It even includes space for clubs, activities, offices, game rooms, a bookstore, café, a black box theatre, dining services, mission and ministry, and so much more.
Neumann’s campus revolves around the students, and the center will be a space for their social life. The university administration is committed to making everybody feel welcome there and creating an open community for anyone to enjoy.
“I do think it is going to be successful and the success would be created by the imagination of the students. We want to see that happen,” said Carrie Snyder, vice president for advancement.
Administrators have been working to raise the funds for this project for a while and believe that the building process could start within the next two to three years. Once started, the Student Center will take 18-24 months to complete.
The university received its first donation for the center from the Student Government. It also recently accepted a state redevelopment grant for $1 million, obtained with the support of State Senator John Kane.
In addition to the center, the Master Plan calls for a new athletic facility near Aston Pizza across from the Buoni Apartments. Construction of both buildings could overlap.
