The men’s lacrosse team at Neumann University is known for its fierce competitive spirit and determination on the field.  But this season, they are taking things to a whole new level by incorporating military-style training into their regimen.

Under the guidance of “The Program LLC,” which trains athletes to develop their sportsmanship and create hard work ethic, the team had undergone grueling physical training not only on the lacrosse field but also at Westtown School‘s pool.

Two members from the U.S. Marines put the team through a two-day military-style training on January 12thand 13th for “mental toughness and enhance team chemistry” said assistant coach Evan Zielinski.

This type of training will not only improve the players’ physical fitness, but also help them develop mental toughness, discipline, and teamwork.

The military places a strong emphasis on teamwork and leadership, and those qualities have been instilled in the players as well.  By pushing the team to their limits in training, they learn to rely on each other and work together as a cohesive unit, both on and off the field.  By feeling more confident on and off the field, the team will be sure to perform at its best.

According to Zielinski, the team’s training style will help them become not only better athletes, but also better men.  They are learning valuable lessons about discipline, perseverance, and teamwork that will serve them well not just in lacrosse, but in life.

As the season progresses, the team is looking forward to putting their newfound strength and unity to the test on the field.  And with their military-style training style under their belts, they are ready to take on any challenge that comes their way.

The season begins on February 11 with a 1 p.m. match at Drew University. The first home contest is February 22 at 3:30 p.m. against King’s College.
