From this week’s readings, I understand that God is powerful above all. In the Gospel, when Jesus presented His teachings to the people of Capernum, they gave Him their attention. The people were later amazed by the power of Jesus.

After reflecting on this reading, I can relate this to my life. I understand that Jesus is powerful among all humans. When I attend Sunday mass, I notice myself occasionally getting distracted and not focusing all my attention on Jesus, but know that He is not only powerful, but understanding.

Outside of Mass, I see His powers every day. Every day we are sent beautiful gifts through nature. I have been blessed to see gorgeous sunsets, autumn foliage, as well as to feel the ocean. All of these things are natural gifts that have been sent to humans from God. I also see His powers through kindness from others around me. This comes in ways of passing a stranger on the street who smiles, or a friend sending me a message to have a good day. I take these daily blessings and reflect that God wanted me to see the beauty in daily living.

I realize that I do not take enough time every day to appreciate the gifts that are sent to me. There are hidden blessings that happen daily and even waking up in the morning is a gift. I am thankful for all of the gifts in my life, especially the ones that are hidden.
