Our team defines reverence by respecting ourselves, our other team members, our coaches and our chaplain.  Respect is showing encouragement to one another, helping each other and listening to each other’s critiques and comments.  As dancers, we all have our individual strengths and weaknesses.  Respecting those strengths and weaknesses helps us grow not only as individual dancers, but as a team.

We think it is important for us to see God in our sport because this allows us to be thankful in what we have.  As dancers we need to take care of our bodies and trust one another in order to get the job done.  It is important to keep God in our minds and know that He is watching over us as we perform.  We end each of our practices with a prayer led by our secretary, Mya.  This allows us to come together as one and think about loved ones that need an extra and special prayer.

The dance studio and basketball court are sacred spaces for us because they allow us to get away from all our stresses and be part of an activity that we all love to do.  To me, a sacred space is a place where you can go and be encouraged to be yourself.  When we perform this allows us to show the audience how we see each other in God’s eyes.  Being part of a sport that allows for creativity, we encourage the members to choreograph their own sideline dance or a halftime dance, share fundraiser ideas or team bonding activities.

Being sacred means more to me than just following the footsteps of God.  Being sacred to me is being thankful for being a part of a team that allows me to be myself and form friendships that I know will last a lifetime.  The Dance Team this year is full of friendly, energetic, creative, talented dancers and I am extremely excited to see where this team goes this year.
