James Delaney, chairperson of the University Board of Trustees, dropped a ceremonial puck at the Knights' match against Nazareth College on Friday, February 13. The game marked the debut of a special men's ice hockey jersey, designed to commemorate Neumann's 50th anniversary.
The team also presented a #50 jersey to Delaney, who accepted the gift on behalf of Dr. Rosalie Mirenda, University president.
The Knights defeated Nazareth 4-3 on Friday and notched a weekend sweep with a 5-2 victory on Saturday. Neumann’s record is now 12-8-4 overall and 8-5-1 in the ECAC West.
Neumann opened in 1965 as Our Lady of Angels College with 115 female students. The name changed to Neumann College in 1980 when men were accepted across the curriculum. In 2009, Neumann achieved university status and today has an enrollment of more than 3,000.
