Atlantic East honors former AD Chuck Sack

The Atlantic East Conference announced its Distinguished Service Award on July 9, naming Dr. Chuck Sack of Neumann University as recipient.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the conference and have served a minimum of 10 years within their institution or conference.

"Chuck has been a true champion for the Atlantic East Conference. His dedication and tireless work have had a profound impact on the development of the conference and the student-athlete experience. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions and honored to present him with the Distinguished Service Award," stated Commissioner Jessica Huntley.

Sack recently transitioned to senior leadership of the university's advancement team after serving as the director of athletics and recreation since 2003. During his time in the athletic department, he oversaw the growth of Neumann athletics from 17 to 23 varsity sports and added recreation programs.

He was an integral part of the formation and success of the Atlantic East. With the support of Neumann, he worked with schools to spearhead the creation of the conference and has continued to enhance the student-athlete experience for Neumann and the Atlantic East as a whole.

“Building the Atlantic East Conference was always a team effort,” Sack said. “There were a lot of hours put in by presidents and athletic directors to bring it to life. I am humbled to receive this award and appreciate everyone’s acknowledgement.”

During his time as athletic director, he also served as the chair for the Atlantic East and a member of many NCAA committees.

"Congratulations to my friend and colleague Chuck Sack on receiving the Atlantic East Conference Distinguished Service Award,” said Keith Mondillo, athletic director at Gwynedd Mercy University and AEC athletic director chair.

"Chuck was instrumental in the growth of our previous conference (CSAC) and is the initial Founding Father of the Atlantic East Conference. Chuck's work in the creation and development of the AEC is the reason we are all here today. I cannot thank him enough for his leadership and friendship over the last 25 years."
