Luke Croucher is one of eight Canadian players on the men’s ice hockey team, but he’s the only TikTok star on the squad.
A self-described “influencer” on the social media site, Croucher began posting instructional videos about the sport in August of 2022. He has 33,000 followers and has notched 1.2 million likes.
A junior forward from Ancaster, Ontario, he has created scores of ice hockey training videos that address topics from the crossover skating stride and how to tape a hockey stick to making your shot 10x harder and how to oven bake your hockey skates (no kidding). He has even produced videos on a day in the life of a college hockey player and how to build confidence.
He is also a healthy-diet aficionado, offering tips on a quick lunch, pre-game meals, post-game smoothies, and an off-season diet (he’s a big avocado fan). His healthy dessert recipe is a mix of Greek yogurt, honey, dates, walnuts, blueberries, almond butter, and lemon juice.
On his LinkedIn page, Croucher explains that his niche is the youth hockey player community “to help motivate, inspire and educate those who are now in the shoes I once ran in.”
He reveals that his goal is to show what it’s like to be a college hockey player and what it takes to get there. “All videos are created as short-form content,” he says, “so my advice is condensed, consumable and fun to watch.”
