Coach Dawes Reaches 100 Wins

In his seventh season at the helm of Neumann men’s ice hockey team, Coach Dominick Dawes has notched his 100th victory. It came in a 5-2 win over Colby College on January 3, 2015. Dawes is the winningest coach in the program’s history.

During his first season in 2008-09, Coach Dawes led the Knights to their first NCAA Division III National Title. The Knights defeated Gustavus Adolphus 4-1 in the title game, held in Lake Placid, N.Y. The team finished the season 21-9-2. Dawes was named the American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) Division III and USCHO.com Coach of the Year.

Dawes is the second person to win the NCAA Division III National Title as a coach and a player, winning on the ice as a forward and defenseman with Norwich University in 2003.

After college, Coach Dawes played two seasons of professional hockey for the Macon Trax and Florida Seals, making it to the Southern Professional Hockey League Finals in both seasons. Before coming to Neumann, he spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Hamilton College.
