Constitution Day Lecture on September 19
Danielle McNichol, Esq.

Neumann University General Counsel Danielle McNichol, Esq. will deliver the University’s 2016 Constitution Day Lecture on Monday, September 19, at 10:30 a.m. in the Life Center’s new multipurpose hall. Her topic is How much do you really know about the constitution?

McNichol served as director of human resources and in-house counsel for the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015. In this role, she provided strategic direction for human resources policies for all volunteers, ensured compliance with government regulations, and executed training programs for the international event.

Prior to the World Meeting of Families, she served as general counsel/corporate secretary for the DE River Port Authority (DRPA)/PATCO (NJ), counsel to the chair of the PA Public Utility Commission for the Commonwealth, and associate VP/human resources/affirmative action officer for the Temple University Health System. She also has an established private practice providing litigation and human resources consulting.

Each year, schools and public institutions observe September 17th as Constitution Day (formerly Citizenship Day) to mark the day in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created.

The law establishing the present observance was enacted in 2004. In addition to renaming the holiday, the act mandates that all educational institutions receiving public funds of any kind and all federal agencies provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day.
