Dr. Theresa Pietsch, Sr. Kathy Dougherty, Thomas Loftus, Sr. Patricia Hutchison, and Susan Benigni-Landis with the class gift.

At the annual Doctor of Physical Therapy Recognition Ceremony on December 5, Thomas Loftus presented the university with the DPT Class of 2026 gift, a 5-foot by 4-foot painting, meant to represent the generations of healthcare professionals that Neumann has cultivated.

Loftus, who earned his BS at Neumann in 2022, said that his DPT class “wanted our gift to honor that history and the community that made us who we are.”

In part, the plaque on the artwork reads: “With deep appreciation for the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia and Neumann University, whose mission has shaped generations of healthcare professionals grounded in compassion, service, and human dignity.”

He recognized artist Susan Benigni-Landis for her creativity: “With a brush and a canvas, Susan captured not only the life and values of Neumann, but the heart of every healthcare profession shaped here. Her artwork tells the story of who we are, and who we hope to become.”

The painting is in the reflection space on the second floor of the Health Sciences Center.
