Dr. Mary Beth Yount is one of 14 theologians in the country who have been invited to a March 16 meeting with the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in Washington, D.C.

The USCCB in recent years has hosted special annual meetings with representatives of each of the five most prominent U.S. theological professional associations on issues pertaining to “The Theological Enterprise in Light of the New Evangelization.” Each theological society is allowed to elect three representatives to speak with the bishops. Dr. Yount represents the College Theology Society.

“It is a great honor that my colleagues chose me,” said Dr. Yount. “It will be quite a memorable event, as the topic is marriage and the Church, and the dialogue will include topics such as an understanding of marriage in the Church, responding to challenges in marriage, and pastoral care for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics.”

Additional information about the meeting is available at http://www.usccb.org/news/2013/13-045.cfm.

Dr. Yount is an internationally known theologian who has presented and written on topics related to the family, parenting, and education. She currently serves as director of content and programming for the World Meeting of Families, scheduled for Philadelphia in September 2015. As an assistant professor of pastoral and theological studies at Neumann, she has taught courses related to theological anthropology, marriage and the family, ethics, morality, ecclesiology, scripture, and Church history.
