Neumann’s team presented five projects: mattress recycling, recycling and repurposing items left from the University library renovation, repurposing Neumann’s shredded paper for an animal shelter, tutoring at the Boys and Girls club in Chester, and creating an excel spreadsheet for St. Katherine Drexel’s food cupboard in Chester to improve management of their food and services.
Participating on Neumann’s team were Alec Calvetti, Thomas Carrocino, Danielle Donahue, Julia Fair, Rena-Rose Jallah, Welyne Jarbah, and Aja McCullers.
The Enactus teams who were invited to compete had prepared at least five different empowering projects throughout the year. The students explained the work that goes into these projects, along with the results, in a seventeen minute performance before a team of judges made up executives from many different national and international corporations. Accompanying the presentation was an annual report provided by the student teams that details the projects and introduces the members of the team.
Neumann’s projects were designed to create opportunities for sustainable progress for people and their communities. The team competed in the first and consolation rounds of the competition, which highlighted the accomplishments of 181college teams.
Enactus also holds a national career fair during the week-long competition that includes representatives and displays from companies from all over the United States, including Walmart, Hershey Corporation, Pepsico, and KPMG.
“The members of the Neumann University Enactus Club learned a lot from their trip to the National Expo and have come away with some new great ideas for projects,” said Julia Fair, the communications officer for the club. “All Neumann students are welcome to join the Enactus team. All that is required is a desire to make a difference in the world. “
