Some local business owners learned how to successfully expand into international markets at a half-day seminar on October 21.
According to Dr. Mehdi Hojjat, organizer of the seminar and professor of international business and finance at Neumann, attendees "learned how to evaluate export potential, analyze competitors, promote products globally, finance export sales, and manage export documentation."
Entitled The World is Your Market, the seminar featured expert speakers from the public and private sectors. Tony Ceballos, director of the Philadelphia U.S. Export Assistance Center, provided tips on market analysis, promotional strategies, trade missions, and services available through the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Debbie Nowak, vice president for international banking at National Penn Bank, addressed export financing, and Jeff Briggs, director of sales for the United Parcel Service Chesapeake District, explained freight forwarding and export documentation.
Mark Capofari of Ancillare Global Logistics, shared the story of launching international marketing for his company.
The seminar was sponsored by the Neumann University Division of Business and Information Management, the University Center for Community Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship, and the U.S. Department of Commerce Philadelphia Export Assistance Center with assistance from the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.
