The Neumann University Players present William Shakespeare’s Hamlet November 10-13 at Neumann University.

Hamlet is widely regarded as the best of Shakespeare’s work. Set in Denmark, Prince Hamlet is compelled to exact revenge on his Uncle Claudius for both the murder of his father, his Uncle’s subsequent succession to the throne, and marriage to Hamlet’s mother. Guilty of his nephew’s accusations and fearful of his intent, Claudius eventually manipulates Laertes, the son of his ally Polonius, into a lethal fencing match with Hamlet by leading him to believe that Hamlet murdered Polonius. Laertes also believes that Hamlet was responsible for the death of his sister Ophelia who committed suicide in a state of madness and grief for her love of Hamlet. A duel between Hamlet and Laertes takes place deciding the fates of all concerned.

The Neumann University Players, formerly known as the Theater Ensemble, is a company of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

The play will be held in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre in the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center on campus.  Performances run Thursday, November 10 to Saturday, November 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m. Directed by John Baxter.  Admission is $10. Seniors/students are $5.  FREE for Neumann Students with ID on opening night, Thursday, November 10.
