IEP panel set for October 10
Neumann is hosting a panel discussion about special education law, IDEIA and the IEP on October 10 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Student Multipurpose Hall.
Panelists will address teacher requirements, parental rights, support tips, and advocacy for educators. They will be available for questions after the program.
“When students are diagnosed with a disability, families step into a whole new world of IDEIA laws and federal documents,” says Dr. Jenelle Abnett, one of the panelists. “This event is aimed to help parents, teachers, and students in the education program understand and navigate the special education system.”
Panelists include:

Reimer is the clinic social worker and community education program manager for the Center for Autism Research and the co-director of the PASSAGE transition program. She is also the social work discipline director for the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities fellowship program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

Raised in North Philadelphia, he has served his community as a law enforcement officer and is currently the family relations coordinator at the Center for Autism Research at CHOP and a volunteer firefighter.
