Neumann University is ready to welcome back our alumni and show our students and friends just what Homecoming Weekend is all about. Registration is now open for Homecoming 2021 which takes place on October 15-17. This year’s festivities include some fan favorites along with some new events guaranteed to please young and old.
The festivities kick off on Wednesday with on and off-campus spirit challenges for prizes. On Friday, Dr. Chris Domes welcomes back the alumni that started it all at Our Lady of Angels College. Following a reunion brunch, our favorite angels will be offered one of three tours to refamiliarize themselves with the campus. Attendees may also join our students for the regularly scheduled Mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel at noon.
The fun continues on Friday night with Designer Bag Bingo in Thomas A. Bruder Jr. Life Center Gym* at 7:00 p.m. This event is hosted by Angel Smedley ’90.
Saturday activities begin with the All-Star Homerun Derby from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. No matter your age or skill, step up to the plate and join the fun at the derby. You don’t have to be a super athlete, just a super knight for a chance to win great prizes.
Homecoming weekend would not be complete without the Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH) Endowed Nursing Lecture. This year’s topic is Home Health Care presented by Steven Landers MD, MPH, President & CEO of VNA Health Group. The lecture takes place in the Bayada Auditorium and begins at 10:00 a.m.
Our littlest Knights will enjoy an outdoor activity celebration led by Arendelle sisters, Elsa and Anna, the stars of Frozen. There will also be a visit from Captain America, who will do his own “hero training.” These favorite characters will lead sing-a-longs, and everyone is encouraged to join in. This event takes place on the CDC lawn and begins at 11:00 a.m.
NU Homecoming’s signature event has always been the lunch, which is back once again this year. Lunches will be grab-and-go items from Wawa. Entertainment and presentations from student clubs, teams, and organizations will take place on the Bruder Patio outside of the Life Center from 12:00 -2:00 p.m.
The Knights will be shining brightly at night with the Knight Under the Stars all-year reunion. Alumni, parents, and friends are invited to this event that honors the reunion years ending in four and nine (all alumni are welcomed). Enjoy music, an open bar (beer and wine), hors d’oeuvres, and prizes.
Sunday Homecoming events begin with a Parent and Student Breakfast with the President at 9:00 a.m. Parents of current and prospective students are invited to dine with their students at the Crossroads Café Dining Hall with Dr. Domes and NU ambassador Mary Domes. Three campus tours will be offered at 11:00 a.m.
To make all of this Homecoming magic happen, volunteers are needed. All volunteers will be given a limited edition, long sleeve Homecoming T-shirt. Sign up to volunteer.
Student Affairs has planned numerous events for NU students during Homecoming. These range from a pageant to a car parade. Visit the homecoming page for a complete list of all Homecoming activities and to register for any events.
*Should any event turn “virtual,” all registered guests will be notified.
