The Delaware County Bar Association is pleased to announce that it has elected a new President of its Board of Directors, Jonathan Peri, to lead the 1,100+ member organization starting in January 2014. The Delaware County Bar Association, based in Media, Pennsylvania, has served the legal community of Delaware County with distinction since its founding in 1872. 

“We are excited to have Jonathan Peri as the next President of the Delaware County Bar Association,” said William Baldwin, Executive Director of the Delaware County Bar Association.  “He brings tremendous skills and expertise in law and corporate governance to this position.  This background will help him to build on the work of previous presidents in setting a strategic plan for the association and in continuing to attract new members. Jonathan’s impressive and well-rounded background will further the great tradition and reputation of our Association.”

Jonathan Peri currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel of Neumann University where he is the institution’s Chief Legal Officer and Program Director of the Neumann University Center for Leadership.  Peri, a resident of Thornbury Township, is a member of the Pennsylvania (PA) State Board of Education, serving a six year term, where he sits on the Council of Higher Education. He is also currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Walden School in Media, and past Chairman of the Upper Darby Community Outreach Corporation. 

As Program Director of the Center for Leadership, Peri has overseen curriculum development and organized high-profile speakers for the regional community leadership program located at Neumann University. The program serves burgeoning community leaders at beginning and mid-levels of career, affording them the opportunity to learn from established leaders about key leadership roles, relationships, and responsibilities across the business, government and non-profit sectors.  Peri has an impressive educational history including a Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University, a J.D. from Widener University School of Law, and he is in the process of earning a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Eastern University.

“It is humbling to be elected to such a time-honored position,” Peri stated. “So many members are like family.  Working with such a wonderful new board and executive committee is a blessing.  Our collective efforts this year will include a renewed focus on strategic planning.  My hope is that we will set a pace to bolster the association’s diversity, develop and expand our online and social media presence to reach out to newer attorneys and law students, while at the same time enhancing our overall membership, benefits, and better informing the citizens of our county of the commitment our attorneys make to the community.  Take Don Weiss, Esq. for example.  Don brings together members of our association annually to aid with wills and tax return services for veterans.  People need to know that our attorneys do much for this county, because they care about the people here.”
