Knights Fall to #2 Mary Washington in OT

Mens Scoccer

The Knights took the Mary Washington Eagles (17-1-2), ranked #2 in the country, to overtime before losing, 3-1, in the first round of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament on Saturday in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Neumann finished the year with a record of 9-5-3.

Capping a successful season, the Knights’ Atlantic East Conference championship victory over Cabrini earned the team its first NCAA bid since 2014. Before Saturday’s loss, they hadn’t dropped a match since September 30 (going 7-0-2 in that span). Anchored by their defense, the squad had given up just 15 goals in 16 games during the regular season.

The Atlantic East postseason awards prominently featured the 2023 champs. Alex Duopu, Jake Kuzmick, Eddie Proud, and Seth Walker were named First Team All-Conference. Gabriel Romero was named to the Second Team, and coach Erik Temple and his staff were selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year.
