Meet the new class: A statistical snapshot

Thanks to the good work of Marcia Finch in ITR, we now have a statistical snapshot of the first-time, full-time undergraduates who chose to make Neumann their academic home this fall.

Finch presented the information to the campus community in a September 29 online meeting. Here are the highlights.

Overview

383 first-time students (largest group since 2022)

66% are first-generation college students

61% are Pell recipients

68% female and 32% male

41% Black, 36% White, and 13% Hispanic

63% from PA, 17% from DE, and 10% from NJ

73% are residents and 27% are commuters

Nursing (28.2%)

Criminal Justice (7.6%)

Business Administration (6.8%)

Psychology (6.3%)

Sport Management (5.0%)

Educational Studies (5.0%)

Exploration Studies/Health Sciences (5.0%)

Health Sciences/Pre-Physical Therapy (4.7%)

All other shares are less than 3%

Trends and Trivia

24% come in with college credit (average is 14 credits)

The class includes students from Alaska (1), California (1), Tajikistan (1), and Uzbekistan (3)
