Men’s soccer wins third straight championship

The men’s soccer team defeated Marymount, 2-0, on Saturday, capturing its third consecutive Atlantic East Conference title. It was the first “three-peat” in program history and only the third in the history of Neumann athletics.

Zion Atta-Krah and Conor McCarthy scored for the Knights with assists from Josh Moreland and Owen Rem. Goalie AJ Henry was named Most Valuable Player, making two saves for his eighth shutout of the season.

With the win, men’s soccer claimed its seventh overall conference crown and earned an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III National Tournament. The Knights will learn their first-round opponent on Monday, November 10, at 11:30 a.m. during the selection show on ncaa.com.

Under Coach Erik Temple, the Knights have notched 32 wins in the last three years, finishing 9-5-3 in 2023, 10-7-4 last year and standing at 13-3-3 this year with the NCAA tournament still ahead.

Only the softball team had recorded three straight championships before this year. They accomplished the feat twice, earning conference titles in 2008-2010 and 2015-2017.

The field hockey team also played in the conference championship game on Saturday, losing to Marywood, 3-0, and finishing with a record of 11-7. Under first-year coach Dana Ott, the Knights quickly reversed their recent trend, winning as many games this year as they won in the previous three seasons combined.
