Neumann University has named Brian O’Doherty the director of undergraduate admissions. He comes to Neumann from the Community College of Philadelphia where he was manager of student outreach and recruitment.

O’Doherty is familiar with the local higher education landscape. Since he graduated from Albright in 2007, he has worked in student recruitment operations at Rosemont, Immaculata, and Temple before a five-year stint at CCP.

He has experience in managing on- and off-campus recruitment events, supervising operations of a Welcome Center, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and coordinating digital and print messages to generate interest from prospective students.

O’Doherty has already begun working with Christine Gibble, associate director of undergraduate admissions, to plan travel and recruitment strategies for the class that will arrive in the fall of 2025.

“The challenge is exciting to me,” he says. “I’m eager to convey Neumann’s opportunities in academics, internships, and athletics to prospective students. It’s good timing for me to start a new recruitment cycle with this team, and I have already seen from other departments a level of support for the university that is inspiring.”

After his CCP experience, O’Doherty, 39, was ready to return to a four-year institution and step into his first true director role.

“This was the right next step for me to effect change in an admissions department and for a college community.”

As an admissions professional who enjoys building relationships and connections with prospective students and their families, he is optimistic that Neumann is an attractive option with competitive financial aid packages, a welcoming and safe campus community, and a variety of academic majors and athletic teams.

He is also a volunteer fire officer for Norwood Fire Company and a coach for Ridley Youth Lacrosse. He lives in Glenolden with his wife Jennifer and two children: Declan, 10, and Maeve, 9.
