Neumann’s Arts Guild is hosting an exhibition of artwork by Erika Matyok in the McNichol Gallery from January 30 through March 11.

Matyok’s painting style is derived from and inspired by traditional Hungarian embroidery from the Tard region of Hungary. She uses strong folk-art symbolism in her work with use of bold color, pattern and select imagery.

She describes her work as reflecting “an abundance of positive energy and spirited emotion.”

Matyok is a professional artist and art teacher. Her creative work is primarily inspired by nature and incorporates the use of symmetry and relaxation techniques. She exhibits and sells her art in the Philadelphia area, and her murals can be viewed around the city and its surrounding suburbs.

The Arts Guild was established in 1991 and currently has eight members: Center Stage Productions, the Cultural Arts Forum, the Delaware County Symphony, International Ballet Classique, and the Neumann University Art Gallery, Concert Chorale, Jazz Band, and Players.

The artist reception for the exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, from 2-4 p.m.
