Nurse practitioner program named one of PA’s 10 best

William Pezzotti, AGACNP program director

NursingProcess.org has ranked Neumann’s Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program as one of the Top 10 Best Online AGACNP Programs in Pennsylvania for 2025.

“This distinction highlights the quality, rigor, and impact of our program,” says Program Director William Pezzotti, “and places Neumann University among the leading institutions in the state offering AGACNP education.”

Established in 2011, Nursing Process is an online guide for aspiring nurses and nursing professionals. The site provides current information about nursing education and careers, including degrees, schools, various nursing specialties, salaries, career advice, and other nursing-related topics. Its content is crafted by an experienced team of nurse writers.

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care program at Neumann University was approved in March 2023 by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and enrolled its first cohort of two students in spring 2024. The program currently has over 20 students and continues to grow. All Master of Science in Nursing programs at Neumann University are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

“We are extremely proud of our Acute Care NP program,” notes Dr. Judy Neubauer, Associate Dean of Graduate Nursing. “Under Dr. Pezzotti’s leadership, this program has flourished. Enrollment has increased dramatically, and our students are thriving. In 2025, our Adult-Gerontology Acute Care students had a 100% pass rate on the National Certification Examination.”

Developed by experienced nursing faculty, Neumann’s AGACNP curriculum aligns with its mission to provide quality nursing education in the Franciscan tradition. Graduates learn the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for competent and ethical professional practice while incorporating the university’s RISES values. The AGACNP program is offered fully online and can be completed in just seven semesters.

The publication ranked eligible nurse practitioner programs (approved by either the ACEN or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) based on four critical factors: academic quality (40%), range of nurse practitioner pathways and specialties offered by the school (20%), affordability (20%), and the editorial team’s ratings (20%).

According to Pattie Trumble, a writer for Nursing Process, “ACNP programs in Pennsylvania will train you to assume leadership roles in high-pressure medical environments like ERs and ICUs, where patients' lives lie in the balance. This career track offers lucrative compensation and a great deal of job security: ACNPs in the Keystone State make $130,550 annually, and over the next 10 years, Pennsylvania's medical sector is going to need 43 percent more ACNPs than there are today.”
