In a second significant step to meet the needs of adult learners, Neumann is introducing a new, accelerated Bachelor of Arts in Education this fall. It debuts, along with the online MBA, in the university’s 2026-27 curriculum.
With these additions, the number of fully online Neumann programs jumps to 13: three bachelor’s degrees, eight master’s degrees, and two doctorates.
“The BA in Education is a fully online program for those who want to get a bachelor's degree and teach,” explains Bettsy McKlaine, the associate vice president of enrollment for graduate, adult and online programs. “It’s geared mainly toward those working in early childhood centers or school settings who want to complete their bachelor’s degree and earn two Pennsylvania teaching certifications in early elementary and special education.”
The BA includes flexible coursework, field experiences, and a full-semester student teaching placement.
McKlaine identifies the primary audience as “those who have some college credits and have been working for a while.”
Another attractive feature of the online BA in Education is the $400 per credit tuition.
For more than 50 years, Neumann has offered innovative ideas to support adult learners. In September 1971, the university (then Our Lady of Angels College) initiated a program for adult women who wanted to earn a degree. It featured six-credit courses offered in the evening.
“Now we’re strategically investigating programs that modern learners need,” says McKlaine, “and helping them reach their personal, academic, and professional goals.”
Expect more online options to arrive in the near future. McKlaine and Provost Eric Wellington are working with faculty to identify which programs make the most sense in an online format and launch those within the next year. Several undergraduate degree programs offered in partnership with Rize Education are also under consideration.
