Retired CIA Officer to Speak on RussianIntelligence Agencies

Scott Uehlinger

Scott Uehlinger, a recently retired Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operations officer, will speak on campus about Russian Intelligence Agencies on Monday, March 9, at 3:30 p.m. in the Health and Wellness room in LLC 3.

 

Uehlinger’s last foreign assignment was 2008-2012, when he served as the CIA Station Chief in Chisinau, Moldova. He is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, with extensive sea time in both the navy and merchant marine. He maintains a current Chief Mate's license and spent 28 years as a commander in the Naval Reserve. He speaks Russian and Spanish.

 

His experience includes postings to the U.S. Embassy in Moldova (2008-2012), the Interagency Iraqi Task Force in Washington (2006-2008), the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan (2004-2008), the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan (2003-2004) and the U.S. Office in Kosovo (2001-2003). He served as a manager in Moldova (chief of staff), Washington (branch chief) and Azerbaijan (deputy chief of staff).

 

Directly responsible to U.S. policymakers in challenging political and operational environments, Uehlinger worked closely with U.S. military, FBI and other departments in executing American foreign policy. He was decorated by the Moldovan government for contributions to bilateral relations.
