Roller Hockey wins its 6th national title

Neumann Knights

Neumann won the Division II championship in roller hockey on April 5, edging rival Slippery Rock, 2-1, in the title match at the sport’s national tournament in Ft. Myers, Florida.

The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 12-12 before winning the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) competition with six consecutive victories in a span of four days.

Before their victory over Slippery Rock, the Knights played round-robin and single-elimination matches, notching wins against Michigan State, SUNY Cortland, Endicott, and Cal State Fullerton (twice).

Neumann and Slippery Rock had played four times during the season, each team winning twice.

Coach Lee Strofe, Neumann’s director of campus safety, led the team back to campus yesterday, one day after capturing the crown with critical support from assistant coaches Rocky Putter and Jordan Strofe. They were greeted by a cheering group of fans, including Dr. Chris Domes.

The win solidifies Neumann’s reputation as a national roller hockey powerhouse. The Knights also won national championships in 2006, 2008, 2015, 2016, and 2023. A Drexel Hill resident, Strofe has been the coach for 15 years, guiding the team to its last four titles.
