Tom Brokaw’s book, The Greatest Generation, moved hundreds of World War II veterans to share their stories of Omaha Beach, kamikaze attacks, and the horrors of Auschwitz.

Tony Killian, an experienced stage and screen actor, will bring these experiences to life in a dramatic reading on Thursday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m.in the Meagher Theatre.

The reading is from The Greatest Generation Speaks, a stage adaptation of Brokaw’s book by Dr. Harry Kantrovich. Killian, whose father served in WWII, was a member of the inaugural cast of the stage play.

He has also appeared in stage productions of Willy Wonka, The Crucible, and A Christmas Carol.

In a review of the 1998 book, General Colin Powell wrote: "Full of wonderful, wrenching tales of a generation of heroes. Tom Brokaw reminds us of what we are capable of as a people. An inspiring read for those who wish their spirits lifted."

The event is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Forum, which hosts lecture series, workshops, and author presentations to enrich the educational experiences of the university and the community.

Admission is free for students, faculty, and staff.
