The Student Government Association, with the support of numerous student and staff volunteers, raised $8,000 for the Color Walk Scholarship through the Driven to Give event at homecoming.

On the Saturday of homecoming weekend, Springfield Ford and Lincoln hosted the event on campus. The dealership donated $20 to the scholarship for people who took a test drive in a qualifying Lincoln vehicle (MKZ, MKX and certain other models) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The number of first test drives was limited to 300, but 100 of those people were permitted to take a second test drive in the 2015 Lincoln MKC. Through the leadership of Madison Beck, organizer of the event for SGA, all 400 test drives were completed, generating $8,000 for the scholarship.

Sarah Cazella, director of student activities, was grateful for the broad student support. “Chaired by Madison, the SGA board rallied together, showed dedication to the importance of the scholarship, and ensured that the campaign was a huge success,” she explained.

Frank Altamuro, a member of the class of 2014 and founder of the Color Walk event, was thrilled by the results of Driven to Give. “My gratitude, thoughts and prayers go out to each of you,” he wrote to current SGA members. “I’m looking forward to April and to getting this scholarship endowed!”
