St. Joseph’s graduate to lead Neumann lacrosse

Neumann has hired Kyle Hofstaedter as its head men’s lacrosse coach.

A graduate of and former player at St. Joseph’s University, Hofstaedter is currently assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He takes the reins of the Neumann program on December 1.

Over the last 15 years, he has coached high school and college lacrosse in Florida and Pennsylvania, including stops at DeSales University and Eastern University. For six years, he also served as founder and director of the Always Sunny Lacrosse Club in Orlando, providing lacrosse instruction for third grade through high school students.

A native of upper Bucks County, Hofstaedter describes Neumann as “a good fit for me and my family” with a lacrosse program that can be “highly competitive in Division III.” His optimism was reinforced when he visited campus and saw the Knights defeat Albright College in an October 26 scrimmage.

He believes that the eastern seaboard from Long Island to Maryland is “the heart of lacrosse country with a large talent pool to pull from.”

His coaching philosophy is based on a family model. “The guys that I coach are like the sons I don’t have,” he says. “It sounds corny, but I’m tough on them and care for them. If the team relationships are right, the wins and the culture will follow.”

Hofstaedter and his wife are raising three girls, aged 10, 7, and 5.

John Krimmel, Neumann’s director of athletics and recreation, is eager for Hofstaedter’s arrival.

"We are excited to welcome Kyle, his wife, and three girls as part of the Neumann University family,” says Krimmel. “Kyle brings a strong background in lacrosse both as a student-athlete and coach and truly embodies the RISES values of the institution. We look forward to watching all that Kyle accomplishes both on and off the field with our men's lacrosse program."
