Two students who recently worked as interns in the digital forensics lab have landed jobs.

Robert Licciardello, one of the first interns to work in the lab, has been hired as a full-time digital forensics analyst in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office. He started work as a Delco crime fighter on January 6.

Matt Randall, another NITE Center intern, was hired as a full-time police officer at the Upper Darby Township Police Department. He started a semester with the police academy on January 13. Randall will graduate from the academy in June and start his field training.

Neumann’s high-tech forensics lab opened on May 2, 2024, the result of a yearlong collaboration with the Delaware County District Attorney’s office and the Aston Police Department.

Funded by a federal grant of $258,000, the lab gives law enforcement throughout the county the tools to investigate crimes quickly – by analyzing seized digital devices, examining video surveillance recordings at crime scenes, and monitoring live video cameras during real-time crime.

The forensics lab also provides valuable internship opportunities for students who major in cybersecurity, criminal justice, and other majors according to Detective Joe Walsh, director of the lab.

“Interns will have experience working on real criminal cases to include in their resumes.”
