Meet Erik Temple '12: Men's Soccer Head Coach

He may have a new title, but Erik Temple is not new to Neumann University. In addition to being an alum, the men's soccer new head coach was the team's assistant coach from 2014 -2019, working with former coach Tim Hollenback.

Temple served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Knights from 2014 to 2019. During that time, Neumann won two conference titles, earned one NCAA bid, and made two appearances in the ECAC tournament.

"We are excited to welcome Erik back to our community. Erik's enthusiasm and energy for the sport of soccer and the Neumann University community were evident throughout our search process. He demonstrated an authentic leadership style that will positively impact our current and future team members," said Chuck Sack, director of athletics and recreation.

Temple is passionate about soccer and started playing the sport when he was six. In high school, Temple played for Salesianum High School and went on to play at York College of Pennsylvania, winning three conference championships, and making four appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament, reaching the section finals twice.

"When you find something you're passionate about, it doesn't feel like work. I've been fortunate to have been surrounded by a lot of good people, coaches, and opportunities," he said.

Temple is the founder of the Sporting Delaware Soccer Club in Wilmington, Delaware. The club oversees 41 club teams with over 750 players. He is the coach for the club's U17 and U19 elite teams and is the College Pathway Director.

Previously, Temple was the club staff coach and boys' high school director of the Delaware Football Club of Hockessin, Delaware. He was also part of the coaching staff for Immaculata University and the Penn Fusion Soccer Academy and was director of coaching for the Delaware Union.

Temple plans to create a hard-working team with players who buy into the team's goals and generate excitement that brings spectators to their games, those from campus and the surrounding communities.

"I want to thank Dr. Domes, Chuck, and the athletic department for the opportunity to come on board and take the program to the next level," he explained. "They believe in me and my vision for the program."
