Major plans for major gift to Neumann

Scholarships? Check. Nursing and health science programs? Check. University annual fund? Check. Campus construction? Check. Mark and Ann Baiada recently donated $1 million to Neumann University to support all of these initiatives.

“Mark and Ann have definitively shown their love for Franciscan higher education and have solidified the success of Neumann University for generations to come,” said University President Chris Domes in an article posted to the Neumann website.

The gift will pay for the construction of new town home dorm facilities, classroom and technology upgrades, as well as athletic field improvements.

The funds for nursing and health sciences are no surprise as Ann Baiada worked as a nurse for nearly 50 years and Mark Baiada is the founder of Bayada Home Health Care.

The Baiadas are longtime supporters of Neumann having already donated $2.6 million to the school before this latest donation. The Bayada name already graces the atrium in the Mirenda Center and an auditorium in the Health Sciences Center.

“We have always supported Catholic education,” said Ann Baiada in an April 12 post on the University website, “and Mark and I embrace the Franciscan values that Neumann University instills in its students. Because of our life’s work in healthcare, we have always been advocates for nurses, too, and Neumann has an outstanding nursing program.”
