Neumann University: Leading the Way in Social Mobility

Neumann has soared to new heights in rankings for social mobility: #18 in Pennsylvania and #86 in the North on U.S. News & World Report’s famous list for the 2023 Best Colleges Issue.

The ranking backs up the argument Neumann President Chris Domes recently made in a Philadelphia Inquirer opinion piece.

“In the past five years, just over half of the diplomas I’ve handed out have been to first-generation students,” he wrote.

This ranking recognition is not only a testament to Neumann's commitment to its students but also highlights its success in supporting first-generation college students in pursuing higher education and achieving their career goals.

Neumann University Director of Media Relations Steve Bell expressed the importance of this achievement, stating “The U.S. News ranking of Neumann for social mobility is significant. The recognition provides objective evidence that the university is successful at accepting and graduating first-generation college students, supporting their higher education and career goals.”

This is not the first time Neumann has received accolades for its dedication to social mobility. In recent years, the university has consistently earned high rankings in 2021 and 2022.

Katie Barnes, Neumann's Provost, also shared her excitement, saying, “We are very excited to be recognized four years in a row by U.S. News & World Report for social mobility, which reflects on Neumann’s personal touch we provide to all of our students, but especially our first-generation students.”

The U.S. News ranking focuses on colleges that excel at enrolling and graduating economically challenged students who are eligible for Pell Grants. Among Neumann's first-year fall 2021 students, a remarkable 53 percent received Pell assistance, further underscoring the institution's commitment to providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.

Neumann University's latest achievement in social mobility rankings solidifies its position as a leader in providing accessible and high-quality education for all, regardless of their economic background. With a strong commitment to its students, especially first-generation, Neumann University continues to be a vehicle for transforming lives.
